The many groups within the UK military have support networks of varying success for their current and former members. There is no unified organisation that provides consistent support to this vulnerable community. The founders of the Military App wanted to deliver a solution to several regiments in the British Army that engaged their current and former members, encouraged in-person activities and was accessible to all age groups.
We worked closely with the founders to draw out their ideas for their military app. Their aim was to drive positive in-person connection and improve user well-being within a fun and engaging community that builds a sense of belonging and purpose. The design process needed to incorporate accessibility requirements for the full range of potential users. The app also needed to be highly intuitive for the varied tech capabilities of the veterans.

The app has been active since October 2022, and is helping thousands of serving and veteran military members connect. It is a single entry point to a complete military community and as the app community grows it will act as a connective tissue between multiple entities and Regiments. This will increase engagement opportunities to drive connection, support and activity for members.
The Military app team has been seeing great adoption of the app and is continuing to build out the features and functions. The original development team now form part of the Military App in-house team. "The app Old.St designed and built has been a big success with the community."
