ABC Incident Reporting Database

Design and development of a national incident reporting tool for UK climbing walls

The Association of British Climbing Walls (ABC) is a not-for-profit organisation championing safety, growth, and inclusivity across the UK’s indoor climbing industry.

We partnered with ABC to design and develop the Incident Reporting Database, a centralised web platform for logging accident and near-miss reports across UK climbing walls. The tool enables secure, structured reporting, industry-wide data benchmarking, and streamlined access to insights that improve safety across the sector.

Smarter Reporting for Safer Walls

We reimagined the incident reporting process with clarity and usability in mind. Structured forms and a visual body diagram make it easy for staff to capture consistent, detailed information, ensuring cleaner data, better analysis, and a smoother experience for everyone involved.

Insight That Drives Industry Change

An intuitive analytics dashboard surfaces key metrics, like incident rates per entry and accident types over time, benchmarkable against anonymised data from other walls. The result: real insight that supports stronger advocacy with insurers, government, and regulators.
From Data to Decisions
Multi-site operators can now export reports in both CSV and PDF formats, individually or in bulk. This flexibility empowers walls to compare sites, uncover trends, and respond to issues proactively, all without manual data wrangling.

Security Built In

Granular access levels ensure that only authorised personnel can submit, view, or export reports. While individual wall data stays secure and siloed, anonymised insights roll up to the association, enabling broad visibility without compromising trust.
