Brainie offers an innovative AI-based tutoring system that provides personalised math education for students, delivering the experience and learning outcomes of human-led tutoring sessions at a fraction of the cost.
We created a sophisticated tutoring platform that leverages advanced LLMs, orchestrated by a custom-built session management system that dynamically adapts to student performance. The result is an intuitive, engaging learning experience that combines an interactive chat interface with a specialized math workboard, allowing students to receive personalised instruction that adjusts in real-time to their learning speed and comprehension.

Leveraging LLMs for education requires more than just API connections - it demands careful orchestration of context and conversation flow. Our LLM connector layer intelligently manages interactions with multiple AI models (GPT and PaLM), handling prompt engineering, context management, and response evaluation to create natural, effective tutoring sessions that users rated as "indistinguishable from human tutoring" in 78% of test sessions.

We developed a curriculum information system that maps relationships between mathematical concepts, tracks prerequisites, and aligns content with appropriate school levels, enabling Brainie to provide tutoring that follows pedagogically sound learning progression while adapting to individual student needs.
Dual-panel interface balancing conversation with mathematical notation
Math tutoring requires specialized notation and visual problem-solving that generic chat interfaces cannot support. We designed and implemented a dual-panel interface combining a conversational chat window with a LaTeX-enabled math workboard, allowing students to maintain natural dialogue while simultaneously seeing properly formatted mathematical expressions and step-by-step solutions.
Innovative session orchestration engine supporting adaptive learning
Traditional e-learning platforms offer rigid, pre-recorded content that fails to adapt to individual student needs. We developed a sophisticated session orchestration engine using a dynamic "Flow List" architecture that can intelligently add, remove, or modify learning modules in real-time based on student performance, creating truly personalised learning paths that achieve 86% cost savings compared to private tutoring.
