East Care helps improve social care practices by mapping and improving the skills of front-line practitioners in conjunction with their organisations.

Our work includes creating a well designed and intuitive platform that incorporates proprietary knowledge of the care industry. The result is an easy to follow user experience for carers and their managers. Delivering much needed professional development best practices to care organisations.

Friendly and engaging design for digitally inexperienced carers
Carers in the UK are paid low wages and offered very little support for career development. The aim of this platform is to reduce the number of people that quit being carers and improve the care that they give. Carers generally don’t use a lot of technology in their work, so the platform needed to be engaging and very user friendly.
Clear journey for carers to discover their learning plans
The platform utilises deep industry knowledge to guide carers through an initial professional development questionnaire. This highlights skill areas that the carers want to improve, and provides managers with clear indicators for skill shortages in their care facilities. The carers are then provided with a simple plan to achieve their development goals over a defined time horizon.

Knowledge of the knowledge gaps for organisations
The organisations are able to visualise collated data across facilities and regions, allowing for early identification of skill gaps and problem areas. Using data to drive decisions on training and resource allocation will in turn drive carer retention and reduce hiring costs.

"The Old.St team really helped us develop our idea from our early thinking to a fully fledged product. The prototytpe they built is an incredibly helpful tool to discuss with potential customers. They then built a fantastic MVP which we are using to great success with our initial customers."
